Rockstar Games’ Website Sparks Speculation About Future Releases
Rockstar Games has recently stirred up a wave of speculation among fans after its website listed GTA 4 for a console it’s not currently playable on. This development comes as rumors about the next-gen version of Red Dead Redemption resurface, adding to the excitement around potential future projects from the studio.
With the release of GTA 6 delayed until May 2026, it's understandable that Rockstar might be working on other projects to keep its loyal fanbase engaged in the meantime. While no official announcements have been made, there have been persistent rumors suggesting that the company may re-release older titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and, most notably, GTA 4.
The latest hints come from Rockstar’s support page, where users have noticed unusual updates. For example, the Red Dead Redemption 2 support page now includes a tab related to online migration, which is likely tied to the game’s multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online. However, this feature has never been available before, and the tab was quickly removed after being discovered by a user on the Red Dead Redemption subreddit.
This brief appearance of the migration tab suggests that Rockstar may be planning to introduce cross-platform functionality for Red Dead Redemption 2, even though the game hasn’t supported such features previously. Given that the title is nearly seven years old, it seems odd to suddenly add this capability. More likely, this update points toward a current-gen patch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and possibly a port to the Nintendo Switch 2.
Meanwhile, GTA 4 has also sparked attention. Its support page now lists the PlayStation 4 as a supported platform, despite the fact that the game was originally released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The PlayStation 4 is not backwards compatible with PlayStation 3 games, and GTA 4 is not part of the PlayStation Plus retro games catalog. Therefore, this update could indicate that Rockstar is preparing a new release of GTA 4 for the PlayStation 4.
It’s possible that someone at Rockstar accidentally updated the support page, revealing plans that haven’t been officially announced yet. If true, this could signal an upcoming re-release of GTA 4 in the near future.
Looking ahead, Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, doesn’t have any new games scheduled for the final quarter of 2025. Titles like Mafia: The Old Country are set for August, followed by NBA 2K26 and Borderlands 4 in September. With no major releases planned around the holiday season, it’s possible that Rockstar will fill the gap with updates or ports of Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 4.
In addition to these rumored projects, Rockstar is also funding remakes of the first two Max Payne games. These are being developed by Remedy Entertainment, the studio behind Alan Wake 2. However, the lack of concrete details suggests that these remakes are unlikely to be released this year.
As the gaming community eagerly awaits more information, the recent changes to Rockstar’s website continue to fuel speculation about what the future holds for the studio’s iconic franchises. Whether it’s a new generation of Red Dead Redemption or a long-awaited re-release of GTA 4, fans are certainly in for an exciting wait.
